Through this project, I learned about the anatomical causes of shingles. Previously, when I learned about shingles, I learned about its prevalence and the cause and impact it had socially as well as on the immune system. However, by going into more research about the condition, I was able to understand not only why shingles caused the symptoms that it did, but I was able to connect the information we previously learned to the body and its reaction to the condition. The most interesting thing I learned was how the trigeminal nerves can be affected for the rest of one's life. Additionally, I was able to learn how the neurotransmitters and neurons react to the condition of shingles.
